At the Dean Hamilton Vocal Conservatory, we believe that exceptional music education should begin early, with structure, purpose, and joy. DHVC Prep offers comprehensive instruction tailored specifically for young girls, adapting classical music training that lays the groundwork for confident, expressive, and versatile musicianship starting from day one.

Unlike typical youth lessons, DHVC Prep offers premier vocal training made practical, with a proven method families can commit to, and kids actually enjoy. All instruction is led by highly trained vocalists with deep experience in both pedagogy and performance, ensuring each child receives expert guidance in a warm, professional setting. Students progress through our developmentally aligned curriculum that integrates solfège, breathwork, lyric interpretation, and expressive performance into a seamless artistic foundation.

Why Classical Music?
Classical music offers more than exceptional musical training. It cultivates discipline, creativity, resilience, and the ability to communicate with confidence. Melissa Angulo, our Executive Director and Head Instructor, is a classically trained opera singer who has dedicated the past fifteen years to mentoring young musicians. Her studies at the University of Michigan and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music opened doors to transformative performance and professional opportunities, reinforcing her belief in the life-changing power of a classical music education. Today, her mission is to share that same foundation with the next generation of young women, helping each student discover her voice, grow in confidence, and pursue excellence through the timeless art of classical music.

Our girls build crucial life skills while they're still FEARLESS. At Dean Hamilton Vocal Conservatory, our program is designed to develop competitive professional musicians from the very beginning. We offer expert-level training tailored to each student’s age and learning style, so every lesson is challenging, empowering, and never watered down. Kids develop strong musical skills, performance confidence, and academic foundations through a process that feels engaging and fun, making progress you can see and results that carry far beyond the screen.

DHVC Prep sets the stage for entry into our college-prep Main Academy (Ages 12-18), where doors open to top-tier schools, professional networks, and lifelong artistic and career momentum.
FAQs
How do I know if she's a good singer?
If she's constantly singing, obsessed with Disney Musicals, or really enthralled with music, she's exactly who we're looking for! Effort, drive, and commitment are what determines who has what it take to thrive in singing. We know what to listen for and how to develop what we hear, if the student and parent are dedicated to the process.
What is the required parent commitment?
Parents are expected to join their child during lessons to help them stay focused, encouraged, and supported throughout the session. We also ask families to carve out time for regular practice and treat lesson days as a priority. Your consistent involvement makes all the difference in your child’s success.
What happens if we need to miss a lesson?
If you know you’ll miss a lesson, we encourage you to attend a different session that week to stay on track. When that’s not possible, staying up to date on the practice assignments is crucial to not falling behind.
What do practice guides include?
Students receive practice tracks and printable music to sing along with for their vocal exercises and repertoire. Parents receive guide sheet that give insight on what to listen for while they're practicing, how to stay consistent practicing, and how to assist in their practice.
How do I sign up for DHVC Prep?

Why group lessons instead of 1-on-1 instruction?
At DHVC Prep, group lessons are intentionally designed to combine the best of personalized coaching with peer-driven motivation, keeping students consistent, even when unexpected personal challenges arise. We do offer a la carte private lessons to enrolled students would like some additional 1-on-1 assistance.
When are the lesson times?
Group Lesson are held in-person on Saturdays & Sundays. Sessions openings are from 10 AM - 2 PM.
What performance opportunities are there?
Students participate in-class demonstrations, all-school performances, and performance that are open to the public.
